Hi Brian,

We are getting Evaluation Warning when we deployed to UAT environment.
Do we need to apply new license.elic since we have upgrade on the dll in our project.

Thank you

Hello,

According to the previous records we found that the suffix of your company’s license email address is “@edesk.com.my”. Your license will expire on 2022-03-04 and it now still valid for the temporary version.

Meanwhile, I did an initial test with your license and found that the evaluation warning message can be removed successfully. How do you apply your license? We recommend you apply your license by license key, since sometimes your application could not read the license file because of lack of permission or other reason. You can invoke the following method at the top of the entry method of your application.

Code: Select all
//The parameter key is the value of the Key attribute of the element License of your license xml file.
Spire.License.LicenseProvider.SetLicenseKey("fUF/eSdAChKg……64M4VQyIG4=");// your license key starts with “fUF/eSdAChKg” and ends with “64M4VQyIG4=”

• If your application is WinForm Application or Console Application, this code above should be added into the Main method.
• If your application is ASP.NET Application, you need to add Global.asax into your project and add this method code above into the Application_Start method.
• If your application is ASP.NET Core Application, this code above should be added into the Startup method of Startup.cs.

If there are any questions, just feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
Brian

Hello Daniel and Jonas,

Thanks for your patience.
Regarding the issue SPIREPDF-4315, after further investigation, we found that this is because .NETCore itself has limitations in processing images on Linux. .NETCore doesn’t support image cutting very well, so it causes this issue. We are very sorry to tell you that it is difficult to find a good solution using our .NETCore dlls at the moment.

However, using our .NETStandard dlls to do the conversion, the generated images are correct. Thus, we recommend that you use NETStandard dlls and refer to the following code to test on your side. You can directly install the latest Spire.PDF package via Nuget, this package doesn’t include our .NETCore dlls, so for your .NETCore application, it will use the .NETStandard dlls by default.
Code: Select all
            var pdfDocument = new Spire.Pdf.PdfDocument();
            pdfDocument.LoadFromFile("Image_input.pdf");

            using (Stream bmp = pdfDocument.SaveAsImage(0))
            {
                byte[] bt = new byte[bmp.Length];
                bmp.Read(bt,0,bt.Length);
                bmp.Flush();
                bmp.Close();
                File.WriteAllBytes("test.png",bt);
            }

Sincerely,
Brian

Hi Brian,

thanks for the update.

I tried with this package reference:
<PackageReference Include="Spire.PDF" Version="7.6.1" />

The generated images did not change. They still look the same. The images are at the wrong position and fonts are not rendered on our Linux system.

Your code sample does not even compile since SaveAsImage returns an Image instead of a Stream object.

Best regards

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your quick response and sorry for the late reply as weekend.
In fact, the definition of the SaveAsImage method is different in our .NETCore dlls and .NETStandard dlls. If you are using our .NETStandard dlls, the SaveAsImage method should return a Stream object, so your project should still be using the .NETCore dlls. We recommend you first remove all dlls related to our product, and then reinstall the latest Spire.PDF v7.6.1 and test again.
Besides, I have sent my test project to you via email. You can run it directly on your side.

Sincerely,
Brian

Hi Brian,

thanks for your sample project.
The project works fine on Linux.
The difference between your and my project is: You are targeting netcoreapp3.1 and I'm targeting net5.0.

The package "Spire.Pdf" contains no specific 3.1 version and therefore the .NETStandard version is used.
This is not the case for .NET 5.

Does this mean, I have to explicitly reference the .NET Standard DLLs and not the Nuget package itself?

Best regards

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your quick response.
Yes, you need to explicitly reference the .NET Standard DLLs for your .NET 5 apps. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Besides, please kindly note that you also need install the following dependencies in your application.
SkiaSharp >= 1.68.0
System.Text.Encoding.CodePages >= 4.5.0
