Hi,

we are trying to export emails from Outlook and convert these to PDF. We are trying to achieve this by saving the mail as html and then convert them to pdf via spire.pdf. It seems that spire.pdf only makes a screenshot of the html file because in the final pdf you cannot mark text or follow links.

Is it possible that you can create a fully compatible pdf file from html where you can mark text and follow html links?

Thank you very much
Mark

Dear Mark,

Thanks for your inquiry.
If you use this method (Convert HTML to PDF with New Plugin) to convert html to Pdf, the result will be text rather than image, but it won't retain links in the generated Pdf. Sorry for the inconvenience.
However, our Spire.Doc could fulfill your requirement well. Please refer to the following tutorial to have a try.
Convert HTML file to PDF by using Spire.Doc.
If you have any question, welcome to write back.

Sincerely,
Anna

Hi Anna,

thank you very much for you answer.
I tried spire.doc and the result looks quite good but in spire.doc I cannot add attachments? Or is there a possibility?

I also tried to convert docx to pdf with spire.pdf but during doc.LoadFromFile("Filename", FileFormat.DOCX) it always throws me an Unsupported load file format!

We do not have a license yet as we want to make sure that the library meets all our requirements.
Is there a possiblity to convert either html or docx to a pdf (with links and selectable text), add attachments and save it as pdf with password? If yes which library I have to use?

Thank you
Mark

Dear Mark,

Thanks for your feedback and sorry for the late reply as weekend.
Our Spire.Doc supports converting either html or docx to Pdf (with links and selectable text), but it has no capacity to add attachments to Pdf. You need to use the functions of our Spire.Pdf to add attachments to Pdf and encrypte Pdf. Please refer to the following guidance.
Add PDF Attachments
Encrypt PDF file.
If you want to achieve all of your requirements in one project, please reference the corresponding dlls from Spire.Office package which is the combination of our products (including Spire.Doc and Spire.PDF).
If you have any question, welcome to write back.

Sincerely,
Anna

Hi Anna,

thanks for the reply.
I've been trying to run the new HTML convert plugin but it throws an exception saying that it can not find the HTMLConverter.dll. The "bin" directory of my project does contain the spire.pdf.dll and the "plugins" folder that I have downloaded and extracted from the link you provided.

Error:
The conversion provider cann't be found.

Please make sure:

1. the folder "plugins" under the same folder of Spire.Pdf.dll

2. exists "plugins\HTMLConverter.dll" and other "plugins\*.dll"

Thank you
Mark

Dear Mark,

Thanks for your feedback.
Sorry to tell that our plugin is compatible with X86 platform well, but the compatibility with the X64 platform is not good at present. Please change the platform target to x86 to have a try. Also, please make sure that you had put the plugin folder at the correct location. You could use the code snippet to specify the path.
Code: Select all
Spire.Pdf.HtmlConverter.Qt.HtmlConverter.PluginPath = "D:\\TestPlugin\\TestPlugin\\bin\\Debug\\plugins";

If you have any question, welcome to write back.

Sincerely,
Anna
