I am just now publishing some of the reports we are generating with Spire.doc, that have been saved to .pdf.

Many of our customers are saying the pdfs are incomplete. They all look fine for my staff and me, but customers are having problems.

Are there certain versions of Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Reader that are not compatible with pdf from this code?

Code: Select all
Document document = BuildDoc();
ToPdfParameterList toPdf = new ToPdfParameterList();
toPdf.CreateWordBookmarks = true;
toPdf.WordBookmarksTitle = TmrData.Report.ReportName;
toPdf.WordBookmarksColor = Color.Red;
toPdf.WordBookmarksTextStyle = BookmarkTextStyle.Bold;
document.BookmarkLayout += document_BookmarkLayout;
document.SaveToFile(pdfFileName, toPdf);

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry.
Could you please offer us your sample pdf file? And please tell us the versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader which are not right with the pdf file.
It would be helpful to replicate the issue and work out the solution for you ASAP.
If the information is confidential, you can send it to us ( [email protected] ) via email.

It turns out that I was not embedding the font and those customers who didn't have "Letter Gothic" were getting bank pdf files.

After embedding it, the customers could see the document.

Another Question:
Internet Explorer 11 does not see or respect bookmarks. Do you know if any browser will see the bookmarks and let me click on them and navigate in the document?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.
The browsers which support Adobe Reader can see the bookmarks.

Best wishes,

Amy,
I am attaching two files.

ShowsBookmarks.pdf
NotShowingBookmarks.pdf

ShowsBookmarks.pdf was created by someone else using Acrobat I suspect. When I right click on it and select "open with Internet Explorer" the bookmarks show up.

NotShowingBookmarks.pdf was created by me with Spire dlls. When I right click on it and select "open with Internet Explorer" the bookmarks DO NOT show up.

What am I doing wrong?

<Edit>
We noticed that when we went to the Acrobat properties of the file that did not show bookmarks and set the "initial view, Navigation tab" to "Bookmarks Panel and page" that the book marks show up. Can you tell me how to set that setting in code?
See image in AdobeSetting.zip file.

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry.
To us reproduce the issue for the converted pdf without showing bookmarks, please provide us your word document here, you can also send it to [email protected]. Thank you.
And you can use Spire.PDF component to show up the bookmarks of NotShowingBookmarks.pdf, share sample code:
Code: Select all
PdfDocument pdfdoc = new PdfDocument();
            pdfdoc.LoadFromFile("..\\..\\NotShowingBookmarks.pdf");
            pdfdoc.ViewerPreferences.FitWindow = true;

            pdfdoc.ViewerPreferences.PageMode = PdfPageMode.UseOutlines;
            string output = "..\\..\\test.pdf";
            pdfdoc.SaveToFile(output);
            System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(output);

That code works for me. Is there anyway that I can do the same thing with Spire.doc.dll using the ToPdfParameterList?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry that Spire.doc.dll doesn't do this, the function is Spire.PDF component's.
