Hi Support team!

I have just printed a PDF file on the same printer twice: At first with Adobe Reader XI and then with Spire.PDF. Both printouts look alike but the size of the spool file generated by Spire.PDF is considerably larger:

Adobe Reader XI: 17,5 MB
Spire.PDF: 198 MB

The spool file from Spire.PDF is approximately ten times larger than the spool file from Adobe Reader. For us this is a showstopper because we want to send the spool file through a low bandwidth internet connection.

Is it possible to reduce the size of the spool file generated by Spire.PDF considerably?

Best regards,
Olaf

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry.
You can convert the pdf to a xps file.
Here is the code for your reference.
Code: Select all
    PdfDocument document = new PdfDocument();
            document.LoadFromFile("test.pdf");
            document.SaveToFile("5657.xps", FileFormat.XPS);

Please feel free to contact us if you have any problems.

Best Regards,
Sweety

Hi Support Team!

Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately I'm not sure I'm fully understand the suggested solution. At the moment I'm loading a PDF document and printing it directly to the printer. This creates quite large spool files, at least in my case.

Code: Select all
string document = ...
string printerName = ...

using (var doc = new PdfDocument())
{
    doc.LoadFromFile(document);
    doc.PrinterName = printerName;

    var printDoc = doc.PrintDocument;
    printDoc.Print();
}

Do you suggest to convert the PDF document into a XPS document first before printing it? Why should this reduce the size of the spool file? And how can I print an XPS file to a printer? Do I need Spire.PDF for this?

Best Regards,
Olaf
