Hello Johan,
We did some tests, but we could not reproduce your first issue. Please check the attached demo which we used to do the test. And the second issue, we have reproduced it. We will fix it as soon as possible and then we will inform you.

Hi Harry,

Thanks for your demoproject. I accidentally added the footerdistance at a wrong position in code.
After moving it to the right position its working as it should be. I am looking forward to the new fix.

Have a great weekend,
Johan

Hi Harry/Amy,

I am still struggling with saving documents as PDF.

When i create a dummy document with the code below, it takes 15 seconds to create the document, and after that almost 4 minutes! to save the document as PDF. Memory usage is raising to approx. 95% (at least it is not running out of memory anymore :-) ) and CPU is loaded 100%.
Saving the document as DOCX is taking approx. 30 seconds.

It is installed on some important production-servers. The server is struggling for 4 minutes (as CPU-load is 100%) with other requests made to the server.

Can you please try to execute this code again, and tell me the time it takes to create both documents (pdf and docx)?
I am using spire.office version 2.4.6.

The dummy project i used to test this:
ConsoleApplication4.rar

Hi Amy,

It took a while because i had to wait for the spire.office update.
The border issue in the footer is fixed! thanks for that.

The performance-issue is not improved, but you're still working on that?

Hi Amy,

I downloaded the 2.5.6 hot fix version (2.5.3 was not available anymore) and did some tests.
Saving the document as pdf is still taking much time. it takes 7 times as long as saving to .docx.

Meanwhile i use a new computer so performance-time is improved, and i cant compare these times to the times from the old system. But i can compare the times to eachother:

Saving the document as docx: 12 seconds.
Saving the document as pdf: 85 seconds.

So it looks like there is not much improvement in the new hot fix.

Can you tell me what time it takes for you to create both documents?

Thanks in advance,
Johan

Dear Johan,

Thanks for your feedback.
I ran your project with the Spire.Office_2.5.3 here.

Creating the document: 7 seconds
Saving the document as docx: 14 seconds.
Saving the document as pdf: 83 seconds.

It looks like my tested time is similar to yours.
Saving the document as pdf is a very complex operation , it is constituted of many steps: parsing document, splitting document to many elements with styles, placing the elements to the canvas virtual, drawing elements to images, and drawing images to pdf.
I have talked with our dev colleagues. They will consider to continue improving the performance of saving as pdf,
but I am afraid that we need more time to finish a new update.

Amy

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your quick reply.
I understand saving pdf is a complex operation and needs more time than saving to docx.

I will follow your performance-improvements with great interest.
