Spire.Barcode is a professional barcode library specially designed for .NET developers (C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core) and Java developers (J2SE and J2EE) to generate, read and scan 1D & 2D barcodes.

When I started using Spire.Barcode, and as late as October of 2016 according to Wayback Machine, the license screen (https://www.e-iceblue.com/Introduce/bar ... oduce.html) read:

Spire.BarCode for .NET is 100% FREE BarCode component, no risk to integrate in your .NET application.

Now, the license screen for the free version says:

Note: Free Spire.Barcode is a community edition of Spire.Barcode, which only can be used for personal or educational purposes. If you want it for commercial use , please upgrade to the paid version of Spire.Barcode.

That is a pretty significant change.

If we started using Spire.Barcode when you said it was 100% free with, "no risk to integrate in your .NET application", can we still use the free version in commercial applications?

Dear richardsargent,

Thanks for your inquiry.
Firstly, we would like to apologize to you for that and give you the explaination. At the beginning of this year, we have just changed our Spire.Barcode from the totally free product to commercial product. Like other products, we have the free version which has limitations and the commercial version. Since there are so many users of it, it's hard to notify you all. Concerning your case, if you want to use in commercial applications, you need to upgrade to our commercial version.
Sorry again for the inconvenience caused. If you have any question, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Betsy

Of course, I can continue to use the old free version, since you offered it with a perpetual license.
