How to figure out which Shape is which inside a pptx

I'm wanting to automate PowerPoint creations, and I'm evaluating your software to do that.

Only hard problem is, that I have to do trial and error to figure out which shape is which to update. (ex: Shape[0] or Shape[1])

Is there something I can do to make this easier on me?
